Itinerary
At 8:45, our team member will meet you at the meeting point with the āAuthentic Georgiaā sign at 4a, P. Ingorokva Street (350 meters away from Liberty Square). Tour departs at 9:00 AM
Our journey starts in Tbilisi, driving towards the GeorgianāGeorgian-Armenian border. After the procedures on the border, weāll have a chance to exchange currency (Armenian Dram).
Our first religious encounter is Akhtala Monastery, a remarkable fortification with a 12th-century church, which is known for its beautiful frescoes and rich history. Learn about the history of the landmark, wander in the medieval walls and enjoy the breathtaking murals.
Here weāll have free time for lunch to enjoy the true flavors of Armenia. Since hospitality is taken to another level here.
After a short drive, weāll reach the town of Alaverdi, to have a photo stop for the abandoned copper factory, an industrial heritage of the region. Enjoy the beautiful Debed Gorge before we reach Sanahin village.
Visit Odzun Monastery. Located in the village sharing the same name, Odzun church and its humble surroundings fill you with calmness and a sense of timelessness. Drive to the church on a serpentine road, overlooking the scenic landscapes of Debed Canyon. Once at the church, enjoy its pristine atmosphere, wander around the old gravestones, and discover beautiful two-arched memorial stelae. Feel the divine energy among its walls and hear the stories and legends of Odzun, promising to leave a lasting impression.
As the day comes to an end, head back to the border, to go through the same procedures as we did in the morning. After the swift cross, weāll head to Tbilisi.
